Rev. Patti Payntor, Associate
Pastor, joined Carmel United Methodist Church as
an Associate Pastor in June of 2000. Patti is a second career pastor.
Following graduation from Ball State University, she worked as a
registered nurse in ICU, dialysis and nursing management for 12 years.
Following a change in call for her life, in 1991 she accepted a position
as Director of Children’s Ministry at CUMC while also beginning seminary
at Christian Theological Seminary. After graduation with a Masters’ of
Divinity and ordination as an elder within the UMC, Patti was appointed
to Carmel United Methodist Church as pastor and has served since 2000 in
that capacity.
Patti’s personal world includes being mother to three adult
children—Annie, Jenny and Dan. For fun she loves movies, traveling,
bicycling, cross stitching and being with her family. For winding down,
she will work in her yard, read, or spend time with her kids and pets,
Sophie (dog) and Oliver (cat).
Important to Patti in her daily Christian life is to follow what is said
in I Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Be joyful always; pray continually; give
thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ
Jesus” and then of to go and live out the great commission…”Therefore go
and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”(Matthew 28:19) Not only
is Patti trying to do this through her ministry with the church, but she
is further committed to community service as she serves as volunteer
Police Chaplain with the Carmel Police Department, is active with the
Carmel Rotary Club with local endeavors, and serves on the Board of
Trustees of the Carmel Public Library.
