Carmel United Methodist Church Weekday Ministries
will follow the decision of Carmel Clay Schools regarding the delay or
cancellation of school due to severe weather and/or emergency
conditions. The latest in school news is available at 7:00 am on
the Carmel Clay school-owned radio station WHJE (91.3 FM), WIBC (1070
AM) and TV Channels 6, 8, and 13. Please look for announcements
about Carmel Clay Schools NOT CUMC (there is a school in Indianapolis
which uses these letters).
If there is a one-hour delay, we will start one
hour later than normal. If there is a two-hour delay for Carmel Clay
Schools, there will be no morning classes for classes which meet 9:00
- 11:15 am. All other classes should come to school at 11:00 am.
If the Carmel Clay Schools announce early dismissal due to
deteriorating weather conditions, we encourage parents to pick up
their children to ensure safe travel for all.
During severe storms/tornadoes, children will be in
the disaster positions in the safe care of their teachers in the lower
level (Soulbait Cafe). We ask that parents wait until severe
weather passes before attempting to pick up their children.
(Your child needs you to stay safe until the storm passes!)
Teachers will engage the children in activities including songs,
finger plays and stories if the wait is long. Emergency bags and
cell phones will be carried to the lower level.
The first two preschool sessions that are cancelled
because of inclement weather will not be made up. The director
will review subsequent cancelled sessions.
